I’m Matty. I work with sound and I make things.

Im a Sound Designer, audio engineer, maker and freelance problem-solver. From Classical Opera to black box avante gard fringe experiences i make sound that feels good, supported with well thought system design that behaves itself.

I’m interested in how sound sits in a space, how it moves, and how small details can change the way something feels. Sound is powerful. It bridges physics and psychology.

Alongside sound, I spend a lot of time making physical things. Electronics, 3D printing, and CNC are part of my everyday practice — Usually in service of solving strange problems, creating bespoke props for theatre, Film, Brand activations,  or building tools I wish already existed. 

I write music, and I’m increasingly focused on sound design and composition, taking centre stage along with more composition for the theatre, with 2026 very much about doing more of that work — especially projects where sound, space, and out of the box thinking start to overlap.

I hold a Bachelor of Music from the Australian Institute of Music and work as a freelance theatre person, sound designer, and maker. I like work that’s practical, creative, and a little bit odd.
